The UTAA Ground Station was established on the Türkkuşu Campus of our University in 2021 by GUMUSH Aerospace & Defense within the framework of the Kılıçsat Cube Satellite project. The ground station consists of the UHF and VHF antennas located on the southeast wing of the Faculties Building roof, the control room in the same building to which these antennas and the antenna controller are connected, and the command and control unit located in the Additional Faculty Building. Some fundamental equipments of the system include:

  • UHF antenna: Yagi beam type, circularly polarized, RX frequency range 430-438 MHz.
  • VHF antenna: Yagi beam type, circularly polarized, TX frequency range 144-148 MHz.
  • YAESU antenna rotator
  • YAESU rotator controller and computer interface
  • ICOM 9700 radio
  • Airspy SDR
  • Computers and necessary softwares 

 

The first telemetry signals of Turkey's first PocketQube Grizu-263A, developed by the Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Grizu-263 Space Team, were received with our ground station.
