Prof. Nevsan ŞENGİL – Astronautical Engineering – Dean to the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics – Faculty Member
Nevsan Şengil was born on 5 February 1959 in Üsküdar-İstanbul. He completed his primary (Kavaklıdere Primary School) and secondary school (Gazi Osman Paşa Secondary School) in Ankara and high school (Naval High School) in Istanbul. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Control Systems from Naval Academy in 1980 and Master’s Degree in Engineering Sciences from Naval Postgraduate School in 1987. He worked in various ships and test stations until 2000. Subsequently, he worked in electronics and defense companies in the private sector. After receiving his Ph.D. degree from Istanbul Technical University in 2008, he taught part-time at the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at METU and joined UTAA in 2011. His research interests include gas and plasma dynamics and simulation, solar cell condensation systems, vacuum bags, and electromagnetic launchers.

Assoc. Prof. Tahsin Çağrı ŞİŞMAN – Astronautical Engineering – Head of Department – Faculty Member
Tahsin Çağrı Şişman received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Physics from Middle East Technical University, and his master’s degree in mechanical engineering and PhD degree in physics from the same university. Prof. Bayram Tekin was his advisor in his PhD studies on Born-Infeld gravitational theories in D-dimension. Following his doctorate, he worked as a part-time instructor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Çankaya University for one semester. Subsequently, he joined the Department of Astronautical Engineering at the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association. Between September 2013 and September 2014, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Centro de Estudios Cientificos (CECs) Institute. In his recent research, his main interest is in the modifications of Einstein’s gravity. In this context, he is working on theories which include high order curvature terms and gain gravitone mass

Asst. Prof. CEYHUN TOLA – Astronautical Engineering – Faculty Member
In 2010, he graduated from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Astronautical Engineering Department with the first rank and graduated from ITU Aeronautical Engineering Department in the same year within the scope of Double Major Program. He worked as a research assistant in the Department of Aeronautical Engineering at ITU Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics Trisonic Research Laboratory during his M.Sc. program in 2010-2012. In 2017, he graduated from ITU Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering PhD program. Between 2012 and 2017, he worked as a Structural Thermal and Dynamic Design Engineer at Roketsan A.Ş., Senior Aircraft Engineer at Vestel Savunma Sanayi A.Ş. and System Engineer at Sun Express Airlines. He joined the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association in 2018 and continues his research within the scope of his interests.

Ali Uğur Sazaklıoğlu graduated from the Department of Mathematics in Fatih University in 2011 and completed his master’s degree in 2013 at the same university with the consultation of Dr. Allaberen Ashyralyev. Ali Uğur Sazaklıoğlu has done research on stability of some inverse problems and numerical solutions of these problems during his M.Sc. studies. He has gotten his Ph.D. in the Department of Mathematics at Istanbul University with his studies on inverse problems.

Asst. Prof. HANDE YAVUZ – Astronautical Engineering – Faculty Member
Dr. Yavuz received Ph.D. with High Honors from Ecole Centrale Paris (CentraleSupélec) CNRS UMR 8579 Mechanics of Soils, Structures and Materials/Materials Science in 2012. She was Ph.D. fellow of French Government and she completed her Ph.D. studies in the frame of an ANR Project (contact grant no. ANR-08-MAPR-0025) coordinated by EADS France (now Airbus Group) from 2008 to 2012. In her thesis, she developed DBD assisted plasma modified hybrid materials for aircraft structures. She conducted research in the area of composite structures, plasma processing, materials characterization, and experimental mechanics at École Normale Supérieure de Cachan PPSM CNRS UMR 8531, Ecole Centrale Paris CNRS UMR 8579, Supelec LGEP CNRS UMR 8507, and ICM Paris-Est MCMC CNRS UMR 7182. Her M.Sc. studies was supported by The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (contact grant no. BOREN-2006-Ç-02). She earned M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees from Gazi University in 2007 and 2005, respectively. She also held certificates in Aerospace Applications of Systems Engineering and Project Management for Aerospace Professionals both from the University of Kansas, USA in 2013.
Within a couple of years after Ph.D., she worked as a Technical Consultant and Project Coordinator at the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries. Previously, she was Technical Coordination Engineer at Turkish Armed Forces 901st Main Maintenance Center Command. Before joining the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association as a full time faculty member, she was in charge of big data analytics research team at STM Inc.
She is a member of Association de l’Ecole Centrale Paris, Groupement des Centraliens de l’Aéronautique et de l’Espace, GDR-GNT Groupement de Recherche: Graphene-Nanotubes. She serves as a referee for the Journal of Applied Polymer Science (Print ISSN: 0021-8995).
